Cheesesteak on Garlic Parmesan Bread

By: Rabia

Juicy shaved beef, caramelized onions, and gooey provolone are piled high on toasted garlic-Parmesan bread. It’s everything you love about a Philly cheesesteak — with an Italian twist!

🕒 Timing

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Cook Time: 20 minutes

  • Total Time: 35 minutes

  • Servings: 2–3 sandwiches

🛒 Ingredients

For the Cheesesteak Filling:

  • 1 lb shaved ribeye or sirloin steak

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella)

For the Garlic Parmesan Bread:

  • 1 loaf French bread or hoagie rolls (split lengthwise)

  • 3 tbsp butter, softened

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the Garlic Parmesan Bread

In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and Italian seasoning.
Spread the mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread or rolls.
Toast in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5–7 minutes, until golden and fragrant.

2. Cook the Cheesesteak

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add sliced onions (and peppers/mushrooms if using) and sauté until tender and lightly caramelized.
Push veggies to the side and add the shaved steak. Season with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
Cook until browned, about 3–4 minutes.

Lay provolone slices over the hot meat mixture and let them melt. Stir gently to combine into a cheesy filling.

3. Assemble the Sandwiches

Spoon the cheesy steak mixture onto the toasted garlic-Parmesan bread.
Slice and serve hot — optionally top with extra Parmesan or a drizzle of garlic butter for that “wow” effect.
