  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

  • Servings: 10

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil)

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (or ½ cup brown sugar for richer flavor)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt)

  • ½ cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Make the Wet Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
Add the mashed bananas and mix until well incorporated.

3. Combine the Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

4. Add Creaminess & Chocolate

Stir in the sour cream and chocolate chips. Mix gently — the batter should be thick and glossy.

5. Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for a melty finish.
Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are perfect).

6. Cool & Serve

Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature — it’s heavenly either way!

💡 Tips

  • Use overripe bananas — the darker, the better for flavor and moisture.

  • Add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate depth.

  • For extra indulgence, drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled loaf.

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temp or 5 days refrigerated.
