No-Oven Breakfast Bread — Soft & Buttery

By: Rabia

This easy stovetop bread is fluffy, buttery, and perfect for breakfast. No oven required — just a pan and simple ingredients!

🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (200 ml)

  • 1 tablespoon yeast (10 g)

  • 4 teaspoons sugar

  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (60 ml)

  • 1 cup warm milk (200 ml)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 5 cups all-purpose flour (600 g) + extra 30–50 g for kneading

  • 100 g butter (softened or melted, for brushing)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Activate the Yeast

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for 10 minutes, until foamy and active.

2. Mix the Wet Ingredients

Add the warm milk, vegetable oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir well.

3. Add Flour & Knead

Gradually add the flour, mixing with a spoon until it forms a soft dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

4. Let It Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

5. Shape the Bread

Punch down the dough and divide it into 6–8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten slightly into round discs (like thick pancakes).

6. Second Rise

Cover the shaped dough with a towel and let them rest for another 15 minutes.

7. Cook on the Stovetop

Heat a nonstick skillet or pan over low-medium heat. Brush with a little butter.
Cook each bread round for 3–4 minutes per side, until puffed and golden brown.

8. Finish with Butter

Brush the hot bread generously with melted butter while still warm.
