Ginger Water (Basic Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1–2 inches fresh ginger root

  • 2 cups water

  • Ice (optional)

  • Honey or lemon (optional, for taste)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the ginger.

  2. Slice it thin or grate it slightly.

  3. Bring the 2 cups of water to a boil.

  4. Add the ginger, reduce heat, and simmer for 10–15 minutes.

  5. Turn off heat and let it steep for another 5 minutes.

  6. Strain into a glass.

  7. Serve warm, or let it cool and add ice.

Optional Variations

  • Lemon Ginger Water: Add fresh lemon juice after straining.

  • Honey Ginger Water: Stir in 1–2 teaspoons honey while warm.

  • Sparkling Ginger Water: Let it cool, then top with sparkling water.

  • Herbal twist: Add a sprig of rosemary or mint while simmering.
